16 Miles Rocked The Foos House

Last Thursday we had to haul the tables out of the way to make room for a band that has "Grab your cowboy hat, pull on your boots and hit the high lonesome trail to..." as their first reference in Google. We were skeptical. Very skeptical. However, being the very cool/flexible group that we are, we cheerfully hauled the tables and configured a Travis-designed lighting system to keep the wimpy-ass lumens where they belonged.

At first, we were a bit miffed having to lug the tables to an unflat section of the tap room AND THEN having to do a MacGyver on the lamp shade to keep the non-foosers from whining about the flood lamp glare. As it turned out, 16 Miles pretty much rocked the house. They played serious foosball thumping tunes and was so good even A-List foosball celeb Sandy didn't complain. We snapped a few pics that will allow us to enjoy this for years and years. While no DYP happened, it was still a pretty damn fun, so fun Travis and Tanya had to give us the gentle boot in the ass a full hour after last call was screamed.

Although patents for similar games may exist from as far back as the 1890s, the game of Table Football as we know it today was first invented by Harold Searles Thorton in 1922 and patented in 1923. United States resident Louis P. Thornton, who lived in Portland, Oregon, visited Harold and took the inspiration back to the States where it was patented in 1927. The patent expired so if you want to build your own table, go for it.
