In a stunning upset over Dan Rayment and Dr. Gulo, Nate and Warren pulled off what many are calling the upset of the year. Even respected Las Vegas oddsmakers said this was virtual impossible without some type of foosball hanky-panky.
The defending-champions, Dan Rayment and Dr. Gulo, scored five unanswered goals in the third game last time to soundly defeat Nate and Warren in Ann Arbor, MI. Dan and Dr.G had a chance at winning back-to-back titles for the first time since 2003. However this week, they were denied by an unstoppable force.
Captain Nate, a Team USA ITSF prospect, was a one-man wrecking ball with three invisible rollers in the final game.
Defensemen Warren scored two "excessive force" bank shots that caused a delay of game as the damaged the goal was repaired. Despite the red flag, instant replay video was not available, so no penalty was charged. In addition, D-man Warren scored two deadly accurate passes and the same number of highly skilled "zig-zags" a shot style that others refer to as slop. Despite this, Warren wasted no time leaping into the crowd to demonstrate his somewhat contrived end-zone dance.
The publicist for the Dan-Gulo team commented, "They didn't finish strong, but the primary reason for the loss was that Nate and Warren scored more goals. Our guys are eager for a rematch but it was heard from a reliable unnamed spokesperson from the Nate-Warren camp, a quote from Apollo Creed after Rocky II, "Ain't gonna be no rematch... Ain't gonna be no rematch..."
