On our quest to find a home for our mint condition Tornado at
Original Gravity we decided to stop by at
Dan's Tavern in Saline. We heard they had a table there and as it was on our way, we figured it would be inefficient to not stop by.
We never made it to OG and we were ok with that...
Dan's is a corner bar in Saline, MI that went above and beyond our expectations.
Curbside, they have little appeal. You need to go inside to make that connection. If you're a beer snob from Ann Arbor or similar places, you'll feel comfy knowing they have "beer snifters" that they will fill with exotic beverages from places like Arcadia Brewing. No joke. Their receipt even includes the word snifter. Damn, we don't even have that in Ann Arbor.
Service by AJ and Rachel: A+
I didn't tell them we were foosball celebs from up the road a piece. We just pulled up to the bar and got what we got. It was good, damn good. Rachel was engaging and genuine. AJ, the guy working the grill, cared not only about making sure we were happy, but stayed busy cleaning the behind-the-bar grill. There's something about a kitchen that's right out there in the open. AJ made you want to ask for a menu.
Their up and downside: They have a Tornado table. It sucks.
Nothing that can't be fixed. Dan's has two sides. On the flipside to the bar, is the foosball side which has plenty of room for a table. They just need to upgrade and recruit a handful of players that will appreciate it. According to a few locals, the table they have gets some action, however no chance anyone serious would play there, as-is.
Overall, even without a serious table we'll be back. Great people and attitude. Burger quality: AJ made it very right. Not only did he cook it, he served it and then checked back for feedback. Highly recommended. Very thumbs up...but we would double that if they would fix their foosball deficiency.
Here are a few more pics from our outing this evening...
